The House Progressives and Princess Pelosi better get used to passing legislation that is developed by Republicans and good for America!
House Dems head to W.H. upset over taxes
With the debate over Bush-era tax cuts raging on Capitol Hill, top House Democrats are shuttling down Pennsylvania Avenue to meet with Vice President Joe Biden to talk about a looming compromise with Republicans that many liberals find unappetizing.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson of Connecticut, Democratic Caucus Vice Chairman Xavier Becerra of California and Maryland Rep. Chris Van Hollen are among the lawmakers who are expected to voice concern over the apparent willingness of the White House to cut a deal that would extend tax rates for the nation’s top earners.
The afternoon meeting is the second in which Biden is playing a major role. He met with Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Van Hollen at his Washington residence Saturday night. President Barack Obama is in North Carolina on Monday afternoon at a campaign event.
Progressives in Congress are furious that they may have to pass legislation that would extend tax cuts on income over $250, 000. Democrats saw it as an opportunity to end the 2001 and 2003 breaks for income about that level.
